{"id":58,"date":"2013-09-17T22:40:26","date_gmt":"2013-09-18T03:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.divorcedetails.ca\/?p=58"},"modified":"2014-03-07T14:10:44","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T19:10:44","slug":"decisions-you-make-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.divorcedetails.ca\/?p=58","title":{"rendered":"Decisions you make today&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Yesterday was Stepfamily Day.<\/strong><\/span> I know you may never<br \/>\nhave heard of the day, even though it was first started<br \/>\nin the U.S. 16 years ago, and I suspect right now, you<br \/>\ncan\u2019t even contemplate getting to the point where you<br \/>\nare part of a stepfamily. But, consider these facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One in three North Americans live in a stepfamily;<\/li>\n<li>More than 50 per cent of North Americans will live<br \/>\nin a stepfamily at some point of their lives;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>30 per cent of children are growing up in stepfamilies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">There is a very good chance you will end up in a stepfamily situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>But then again, you may already know this. Apparently<br \/>\n\u201cparenting differences\u201d is the #1 reason that remarried<br \/>\ncouples, sometimes called encore marriages, end up<br \/>\nbreaking down. About 37 per cent of U.S. second marriages<br \/>\nend before they hit the 10-year mark. And 20 per cent of<br \/>\nCanadian second marriages never make it to the eight-year<br \/>\nmark. That\u2019s one in every five second marriages!!<\/p>\n<p>What the stats can\u2019t tell us is the emotional turmoil that comes<br \/>\nwith having to deal with divorce. The anger, the bitterness,<br \/>\nthe vindictiveness, the sense of helplessness, the sense of<br \/>\nfear, the tiredness, the confusion\u2026it goes on and on.\u00a0 You<br \/>\nhonestly don\u2019t know what it\u2019s like until you have personally<br \/>\nbeen in the situation.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s something else you may not realize: t<span style=\"color: #800080;\">he agreements<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> you make as you deal with your divorce &#8212; the parenting<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> agreements and the financial agreement &#8212; are what you will<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> be living with for the rest of your life.\u00a0<\/span> It\u2019s very very important<br \/>\nthat you make the right choices and the right decisions at the<br \/>\nbeginning of this process. It takes a lot of time and a lot of<br \/>\nawareness to figure it out.\u00a0 And the legal process is a long,<br \/>\ncomplicated, convoluted one.
